Sketchbook (usually use A4 or A5 size any Spiral and thick pages sketchbook )
Colour Pencil (here I use Faber-Castell Colour Pencil box)
White Pencil (use any Glass Marking Pencil)
Drawing 0.2mm Technical Pointer Pen
HB Pencil

How To Draw a Butterfly Drawing for Kids Step-By-Step

Some applying easy tips and techniques kids can easily draw butterfly sketch. here I explain step by step instruction of Butterfly Drawing. interesting part of this drawing is all sketches draw on paper and as it is uploaded so you can relate all work for your original drawing idea.

Step 1: Draw Geometrical Construction

Geometrical Construction make help to draw any drawing step by step with symmetrically and butterfly drawing should required symmetrically construction. Draw vertical and horizontal line as well as Trapezium Construction as shown in below figure.

Step 2: Draw Body Of Butterfly

Butterfly body is very easy to draw. first step, draw circle by help of central symmetric line as well as draw stomach by simply curve line from face point to end point as shown in figure.

Step 3: Draw Eye, Nose and Mouth

Draw two big circle. each circle are opposite side of symmetric line. and one half circle for a butterfly cute smile. similarly draw tick mark in between mouth and eyes which looks like a nose of butterfly.

Step 4: Add Details in Eyes

for more realistic look add eye details in pictures by simply adding eye lashes and eyeball as well as draw circular pattern on stomach.

Step 5: Start Drawing Upper Wings

To draw butterfly upper wings. you should take help of Trapezium Construction which make more easy to draw symmetric wings. don’t forgot centre line for reference. start outer wings line which make fine curve and touch with trapezium side.

Similarly start drawing internal wings structure which is exact copy of outer wings but internal wings are small as compared to external.

Step 5: Start Drawing Bottom Wings

To draw butterfly bottom wings. take help of bottom above 90 degree Trapezium Construction which make more easy to draw symmetric bottom wings. use centre line for reference. start outer bottom wings line which make fine curve and touch with trapezium side of bottom face.

Start drawing internal second layer of bottom wings.

Similarly, Start drawing internal third layer of bottom wings.

Step 6: Draw Wings Design

Butterfly wings design have different pattern which make butterfly wings colour more attractive. by simply making circular pattern on wings make it more beautiful and easy for colour filling.

Similarly draw same pattern on bottom side of butterfly wings. for more understanding refer below figure.

Step 7: Draw Hand, Legs and Antenna

Start drawing head antenna of butterfly by simply curving. make sure start it from head side and end it with outside top. start drawing the legs and hand of butterfly bottom side of stomach and centre respectively. fun fact is that I draw here cartoon legs as well as hand which look like human body.

Step 8: Erase Reference Line

Step 9: Fill The Colour

For our Butterfly Drawing I personally used Pencil colour. Select high-quality pigments for vibrant colors and good blending capabilities colour pencil. I use selective shade of colour including Yellow, Blue, Purple, Sky blue, Red and Black etc.

Start Filling with light Baby pink colour. make sure you fill colour in filling zone. refer below figure for more understanding.

Pick up Red colour pencil shade and start shading outer side of butterfly head and make it 3d design. extra tips you can use your finger tips to merge two colours. for more realistic your Butterfly Drawing and white glass pencil shade and merge it.

I use purple colour shade for stomach you can select different shade.

Use Blue colour shade for shading a purple colour stomach merge it with finger tips or simple use pencils. similarly use sky blue for eye and shade it with blue colours.
